Cyclone Drums Snare Drum - a review
As a working drummer covering many different styles of music, I've put my custom Cyclone Drums snare through an amazing month of demanding and very different musical situations. In it's first 48 hours with me, it went into the recording studio for the upcoming Worldwide Zoo album, and had a double header at both a small jazz gig, and a top 40 affair. Since then it has done dinner events, large venues, small dive bars, house parties, outdoor concerts, and ballrooms. In all situations it has left an enormous smile on my face. I enjoy playing an instrument that not only allows me to express myself at full potential, but also pushes this self expression in new and wonderful directions. Projects like the Jason Stander Quartet and Worldwide Zoo incorporate dynamics that range from whisper quiet to sonically explosive. Groups like Green Sunshine require that full, fat tone and clear projection. I've used this snare in all these bands and it has exceeded my expectations repeatedly. The rim shots are almost holy and the adjustable strainer is smooth and useful. With looks that could kill, this snare is as beautiful looking as it sounds. No doubt of any sort in my mind, this is the finest snare I've yet to play. Check it out on the upcoming albums from Worldwide Zoo(Jan. 2010), the Jason Stander Quartet(Mar.2010), and Green Sunshine.
