Cyclone Drums - Jason Stander Signature Snare Drum
A 12 x 5" Cyclone Drums 10-ply Maple snare drum in Gold Glass Glitter. It has rock maple hoops with chrome tube lugs and claws. The snare valley bed is nice and deep. Jason went with the Trick Gs007 throw off and Puresound strainers to finish it up. This snare can be tight and focused or bright and open. A Cyclone Drums custom snare in Oyster Black Pearl. This snare was custom built for Jason by Brian Bernard himself. It started with an 7-ply VSS Keller maple shell which was wrapped in 70's Oyster Black Pearl to match Jason's 1971 Duo Rock kit. The 45* bearing edges came complete with a well defined narrow snare valley bed. Jason chose the classic tube lugs in chrome finish and a Trick Gs007 adjustable throw off. He elected to complete the snare with Red Rock Maple 10-ply wood hoops, cast claws, and Puresound "Blaster" strainer. A musical instrument of the finest quality.
1971 Ludwig "Duo Rock" outfit
In the studio all mic'd up and ready

Sizes are 12x8", 13x9", 16x16", 20x20"(floor tom), (2) 20x14" bass drums(1 not shown in picture), and a 14x6 Supraphonic snare. This set was given to Jason by his father George who was the original owner. The set was ordered in late 1970 but was not made and received until early 1971. George was told it was due to the custom 20" floor tom.
Late 1960's Mica-Sonic Deluxe
Late 1960's Mica-Sonic Deluxe in Blue Aqua Satin. Japanese Luan wood in 12x8", 14x14", 20x16", and a 14x6" snare. The bass drum mounted cymbal stand has been replaced with a DW model. The snare drum has had a snare valley bed cut in and is outfitted with Yamaha Vintage wood hoops along with Puresound strainer. The kick drum hoops have been changed out from metal to maple wood. This kit is a great example of the Pre-Yamaha(Pearl, or Tama) Japanese drum sets that were available for beginners and semi-pro's. The shells are 9-ply Luan mahogany very comparable to the Gretsch Catalina Club shells(but much heavier). They do not have re-enforcement rings. The bearing edges are rounded on these. The wood grain of all plies run from bearing edge to bearing edge as opposed to around the drum horizontally which makes them quiet drums. They have a very warm sound perfect for small jazz gigs. Jason has plans to replace/repair the rail-style tom holder.
1959 Ludwig Super Classic
A 1959 Super Classic in Red Sparkle Pearl wrap with matching wood snare. The sizes on this one are 12x8", 16x16", 22x14", and 14x5" COB Classic Strainer Snare. The wood used on these was a combo of African mahogany and maple. 3 ply's total, one very thick, and two very thin with maple reinforcement rings and natural raw interiors. This was THE set in the 1950's.
